Refining our big idea, and getting feedback

Image
Week 9 - Class 2 We received some really useful feedback in class regarding our big idea. There were questions about our digital screen and face book event as since our event is a phone free event this might take away from that aspect, although they said this was more of a tension rather than something we should change. They liked our idea of using the tote bags as a reward to be won within the event, and suggested these could also be bought, maybe with tokens. We are thinking when people have a certain amount of tokens they can buy a bag. It was brought to our attention that the stickers could be touch point 1 or 2 as these could act as something to advertise the event, and to collect before the event. They suggested a sticker book as a way of collecting all the stickers and gives people somewhere to put them. At the moment we are thinking the stickers will act as touch point 2 but also be something that is constantly available to find after the event. They will be placed o...

Feedback for touch points

Image
Week 9 - class 1 Talking to the tutors we realised we need to refine out touch points more and sort out our strategy. It was also mentioned we should start thinking about funding and the overall journey of how this event will run

Week 8.2 exchange meeting

Averils meeting: Fashion - designing a collection but making two outfits. at the moment shes dying fabric and making the patterns and mock ups of her outfits  Spatial - home for a dog lover, lowered window for dog, dog beds as high as human bed, large opening doors allowing humans to throw a ball otside to the dog while still inside, house for two couples who each own a dog. Venue

Wellington http://www.museumswellington.org.nz/venue-hire/wellingtonmuseumvenues/ We think our event would take place somewhere like the wellington museum as this is quite central to the city, making it easy access for poeple. It's also a good size for the amount of people we imagine at the event.

Refining touch point 1

Week 8  After doing some research and some more sketches I've finalised an effective form of promotion. Going off the idea of games, I thought of the idea of having digital touch screens that people can play actual childhood games on. this can include the guess who idea and other games like, connect four, match two of the same and many others. These screens would be placed in a few bus stops around town, with one on either side so people can verse each other. As soon as people see the screen with their favourite childhood game on it they will be engaged and intrigued and what to play it. This will also encourage people to connect with one another as they will have to compete against another person to play the game. After the game is completed another screen will pop up saying 'flashback friday, relive your childhood' and encourage people to find out more about this future event. A benifit is the when people are interecting with this screen they wont be on their phone, ...

Christchurch super street arcade example

Image
Week 8 - Research helpful info relating to our promotion idea Gaming was highly social in the ‘80s with the popularity of arcades; now it has become more private, usually undertaken in homes alone, in small groups, or in virtual space with others around the world. Super Street Arcade is in public, a great spectator game, and requires two or more people to collaborate to play, making it social and fun. It also requires the players to get active; you will break a sweat in this game! And it is our hope that strangers will lend a hand to other strangers in order to play the game. In this way, the game is collaborative and participatory. Super Street Arcade is a double-spectacle: the video game is fun to watch and the people playing become a spectacle themselves. pg.4 https://gapfiller.org.nz/project/superstreetarcade/ Super Street Arcade is Gap Filler’s latest project and will see the over-sized gaming console installed on a footpath in the Innovation Precinct and a large...

Tote Bag and Postcard Ideas and brainstorm

For the tote bag designs (Our equivalent of a party bag a lá kids birthday party style) we want a design that will be continued to be reused again and again after the event and provide the event exposure for future events. These designs will be standard in layout across the events but will feature different aspects specific to the type and theme of the event hosted. This will create almost a sort of limited edition tote bag that people will want to collect from the event and more likely to attend to receive the party packs at the end of the night. Special edition totes could also be collected when one has collected enough tokens within the event, this will encourage people to participate in more games and activities within the events. This standard layout will have similar aspects to the poster design in terms of borders and patterns to keep everything streamlined. The patterns will be of a memphis design style incorporating squiggles, triangles and dots. Although the Memphis sty...

Poster development

Image
Week 8 - Class 1 In class it was mentioned that posters might not be interesting enough for millennials and we should think about making them more engaging. These are some concepts we've been discussing in order to make our promotion more engaging. We want to make the poster interactive in a physical sense which will encourage millennials to go up to the poster and interact with it. Guess who? poster concept

Touch points

Image
Touch point 1 We are thinking of creating interesting posters as a way to make people aware of this event and create interest and intrigue. If people want to find out more they can go to the facebook page which will have a lot more information on it. This facebook page will be an area for people to get involved and suggest what they want to see at the event as well as get sneak peaks for what will happen at the next event. This will give people who attend the event a place to easily fond information and make them feel more connected. Touch point 2 Flashback friday event. based on a theme eg, 80s games food drink tv shows movies Touch point 3 Pre lim sketches for tote bags (party packs given at end of end of night) and mock up for general feel of tote once the event is established, extra info to be added to tote. At the end of the night people will be given a party pack, which will be another nostalgic aspect as when we were younger we'd...

Week 7: Vocal Weekly Update on Prototype and other developments  << Audio file on our weeks developments and what we are working on going forward

Touch point 1 Concepts

Image
Week 7 - preparing for class 2 We individually drew concepts for touch point one - our advertising

Inital look book for possible print marketing aesthetics

Image
Initial look at potential options for the print based marketing for our Throwback Friday event. The look has nostalgic touch points from both the 80s and 90s aesthetics which is important when catering to both kids of both decades. Each poster may be more specific to the chosen theme within a decade but a cohesive effect with still be able to be maintained thoughout the event series.

Prototype 3

Image
Week 7 - Class 1 For this weeks prototyping we began with a prototype 'moment'. This meant we were prototyping only a small aspect of the proposed event that we were planning. This involved testing ways our phone free handover would be a rewarding experience for the attendee. For this we created a wheel system where when they handed over their phone at the entrance to the event they would be rewarded with a spin of the wheel where they had the chance to win tokens, which could be spent at the event, movie vouchers, food and drink vouchers or other fun prizes. This would give the guests more of an incentive to give up their phone. We got some very useful critique when testing this aspect of our event which will help us when refining this idea. The main issue that arose was the fact people could win a voucher from the wheel and then proceed to ask for their phone back and just leave the event. This could also mean that people could re enter and spin the wheen a...
