Prototyping

Week 6 - Class 1

We have found from our research that nostalgia and social events are successful ways to encourage millennials to live in the moment. We are currently thinking to create an event revolved around nostalgia which would remind millennials how much fun they had before they had their phone.

Today we began to protoype our event idea by showing a few participants nostalgic images to start a conversatoins about what is nostalgic for different people. surprisingly millennials are very nostalgic compared to other generations, so we believe a social event involving nostalgia in some way would be a successful strategy to encourage millennials to put down their phones and live in the moment by rememebering the past. We want to remind millennials how much fun they had in their childhood before they had phones. Millennials were a lot more engaged with their surroundings when we didn't rely on technology.

At this stage our idea is to create a social event including things like, games, tv shows, movies, food etc from our past which we believe will create conversations with others and encourage connections in real life. This event will take millennials minds off their phones and create awareness about creating a healthy balance between technology and real life connections.

At the door their could be an area to drop your phone and a sign that says 'no phones beyond this point' we are still brainstorming ideas and thinking of ways we could approach this idea.

Our prototype was really successful as everyone reacted with excitement and joy and they would proceed to talk about memories they associate with the certain toys, food or TV shows. We got given some ideas for things we could include in our event and what millennials would like to see at this event.
